Ahmed Hoosen Deedat (July 1, 1918 - August 8, 2005),
born in the Surat District of India, was a Sunni Islamic scholar,
author and lecturer. His family migrated to South Africa in 1927.
He established the first Islamic religious institution in South
Africa to train preachers at the Assalaam Institute in Braemar.
He was the president of the Islamic Propagation Centre
International (IPCI), until he suffered from a stroke which
left him paralyzed. He published over 20 books and distributed
millions of copies of pamphlets for free, many of which had been
translated into various languages. His first lecture was entitled
“Muhammad (peace be upon him): Messenger of Peace,” and it was
delivered in 1940, to 15 people at a cinema in his province.
Born in Ankara in 1956, Adnan Oktar writes his books under the
pen name of Harun Yahya. Ever since his university years, he
has dedicated his life to telling of the existence and oneness
of Almighty Allah, and disseminating the moral values of the
Qur'an. He has never wavered in the face of difficulties and
despite oppression, still continues this intellectual struggle,
exhibiting great patience and determination. Oktar, a talented
artist since childhood regards art as a manifestation of Allah's
superior creation, painted surrealist pictures from time to time and
gave away a large number of paintings as gifts.
Oktar numbers animals, plants and flowers among his spheres of interest,
as well as horticulture and interior design.
Jamal Badawi is a professor at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax,
Nova Scotia, Canada where he is currently a cross-appointed faculty
member in the Departments of Religious Studies and Management. He
completed his undergraduate studies in Cairo, Egypt and his Masters
and Ph.D. degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
Dr. Badawi is the author of several works on Islam. He also researched,
designed and presented a 352-segment television series on Islam, shown
in many local TV stations in Canada and the USA and in other countries
as well. Audio and video copies of these programs have been widely used
in many countries.
Dr. Zakir Naik, President of the IRF, has delivered more than 600
public talks in the last three years itself in the U.S.A., Canada,
Britain, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia,
Singapore, Hongkong, Thailand, Australia and other countries, in
addition to many public talks in India. Many of these are available
on Video and Audio cassettes. He is renowned for his critical
analysis and spontaneous and convincing answers to challenging
questions posed by the audiences and sceptics after his public
talks, in the open Question & Answer sessions. He has, Alhamdulillah,
successfully overcome challenges from prominent personalities of
other faiths in dialogues and debates.
